Nearly 600 students attended the seminar, titled “LGBT and Myanmar Youth Society” which was held at Dagon University on 26th June and it had reportedly gained an unexpected success.

“We could see that about 600 people attended. We could manage to organize this event through financial hurdles and other obstacles,” said one of the organizers of this event.

The LGBT related seminar which was presented at Theatre 1 of Dagon University was organized jointly by Youth Club (Dagon University), Power of True Love and The Student Unions of Dagon University. Writer Anyo, Paing Soe San, a transgender man who is a model and actor, LGBT activists Shinn Thant and Myo Ko Ko San attended the seminar as speakers.

“The reason I attended the event is because my family do not agree with the way I am doing right now. After attending the event, I learned how to deal with parents smoothly and what to consider. Being a LGBT, I come to attend the seminar to gain strength,” said Ko Shine, a transgender man who is a university student, attending first year of distance education majored in Geography.

In this seminar, discussion and questioning between speakers and students about existential of LGBTs and problems among society were made.

“There were so many students that even seats couldn’t be provided enough. It is not an easy job to talk about LGBT in front of such large number of LGBTs. Thanks everyone for organizing this seminar through various kinds of trouble and for standing by the side of youth LGBTs,” Shinn Thant, a speaker of the event opened up.
