Colors Rainbow gave a three-day course on human right and LGBT right for LGBTs in Shwe Pyi Thar township to make people understand more about human right and dignity.

The course organized by Colors Rainbow was held at Yu Wadi Hall in Shwe Pyi Thar township from 14th to 16th August.

“The objective of this course is to make people understand LGBTs and SOGIEs more clearly, to decrease discriminations on SOGIEs, to know violence and legal contents vividly, to make people understand the rights of LGBTs more clearly, to gain network in performing LGBTs’ affairs”, said Ma Yu Myat Mon who lead the discussion at the course.

The course was attended by 27 attendees including not only LGBTs but also Non-LGBTs.
“At the beginning of the course, human right is just a thing I had ever heard. I got much knowledge from the course. I had ever seen tom-boys and gays around my place. Now, I have more understanding on them and I know how to treat them”, Ko Kayin, an attendee said.

During the three-day course, topics including connection between human right and dignity, group’s rights, meanings of LGBT, sex and gender based perspective, SOGIE (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity or Expression), wrong perceptions on LGBTs by society, being hate on homosexuals without any purpose and laws every homosexual should know had taught and discussed.
