Shinn Thant who is the winner of Miss Trans Grand International Myanmar 2018 said that she wants to be the first Member of Parliament who had clearly admitted herself as a LGBT.

Shinn Thant said like that at Miss Trans Grand International Myanmar 2018 which was held at Sky Star Hotel on 22nd September.

“For me, I want to be a good leader. There are always many discrimination against LGBT at works, schools and clinics. As Section 377 of Penal Code is still effective in Myanmar, oppressing, discrimination and arresting LGBT are still happening. So, I want to be the first Member of Parliament who had clearly admitted herself as a LGBT,” said the Winner, Shinn Thant.

In addition to winner prize of Miss Trans Grand International Myanmar 2018, Shinn Thant also received Miss People Choice Award, Miss Personality Award and she will have chance to compete in Miss Trans Grand International 2018 which will be held at Myanmar for the first time in 2019.

“To be a Member of Parliament, I need to learn the facts concerning with political issues. There are difficulties to become a MP. It needs votes from people and support from party. Conservative perceptions and traditional customs lie ahead as barriers,” she explained about the barriers she has to face as a Transgender.

Moreover, Shinn Thant will give speech about LGBT issue in a way a Member of Parliament does at TEDx Yangon 2018 which will be held at The Strand Hotel on 6th October.

29 Transgender Women Misses from respective State and Regions contested Miss Trans Grand International Myanmar 2018 which was held for Transgender women.

Selection of contestants for Miss Trans Grand International 2018 was done by conducting over 10 Miss Trans International 2018 competitions in respective States and Regions from December 2017 to August 2018.
