To bring young LGBTs together and share information, LGBT Empowerment in Myanmar will organize LGBT gathering once in every month.

“What we want from this event is to give knowledge to young LGBTs. We will host it once a month with different topics. The main concept of this event is to build unity by regular meeting. We have plans to invite others speakers,” said U Ye Lin Htet, member of LGBT Empowerment Group.

The first Young LGBTs Gathering was held at Medecins du Monde-Myanmar Mission (MdM) at Thamein Lansone, Yangon on June 3 and the topics was Safe Sex.

“When this event was announced, I thought I should go and went there. There, I learned a lot. Syphilis and safe sex, for instance. At the gathering we play games and there was no unfriendly manner. I guess I might attend other gatherings every month,’’ said Ko Wai Yan, an attendance to the gathering from Htauk Kyant township.

LGBT Empowerment in Myanmar was formed with fiver members in March who organized gathering with their own money and there were 35 attendances at the event.
